Catching up.

Sorry for the big gap between posts. We have had three sessions in Bold Street: one Saturday morning that was quite difficult with very little contact (warfare is a constant factor). However, last Thursday and this Saturday have been much better with several positive conversations with seeking people as well as meeting Christians who are encouraging to us and encouraged by us. We have been able to give quite a few New Testaments away and to point people to Scriptural answers to their serious life questions. As always there are those who do not seem to have ears to hear but we believe that God's word does not go out in vain. Our literature trolley and poster make it clear who we stand for and that too is a testimony to all who pass by.

We are aiming to make at least two sessions a week and I will post which days when I know.

Thanks for your prayers.

Bold Street Liverpool.

We went to Bold Street today and last Friday. We have had good conversations on both days with several Christians stopping to encourage us and to say how much they feel there should be more Christian witness in public places. Our pitch is clearly identified and everyone who passes by can see who and what we are standing for. We cannot just leave our streets to cults and Islam, in the nineteenth century Salvationists went to prison to establish the right to proclaim the gospel in public,  we must do what we can while we can.

Next week we shall be in Bold Street again, days to be confirmed.

Walking in the Spirit.

Sometimes as we follow the Lord things are very clear , and at other times things seem to get a bit muddled. I have found that in  times of muddle that I have to go back to the last clear word from God. Pauline and I feel sure that we have had a clear word from the Lord to evangelise in Liverpool City Centre; this goes back a long while. This call was the determining factor in deciding where to live (10 minutes from the City Centre) and when we have gone on the streets there we have seen  and felt the Holy Spirit leading us and leading people to us. So it is, I have decided, at least for the present, to concentrate our efforts in Liverpool. The approach we believe it is right for us to use seems to get no response in Southport in contrast to our times in Liverpool so we will continue to cast our net there until the Lord says different.

This week;
Friday 4 th September 10.30-12 noon. Bold Street.

Update 14/08/15

Tuesday in Liverpool was ok but, unusually, we did not actually give any New Testaments away.

As today (Friday) is so wet we are aiming to go to Bold Street again tomorrow (Saturday) roughly from 11.00am till 12.30pm.

Time change for Southport on Monday: 11.00am till 12.30pm.

Update 9th August

Sorry about the gap in posts and activity... family commitments have interrupted things. Enough of excuses!

Have you noticed that the WHOLE armour of God found in Ephesians chapter 6 includes  "having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace" ? Can it be that we are sometimes all dressed up with nowhere to go?

Schedule:

Tuesday 11th. Liverpool, Bold Street 10.30 am-12.00 noon.
Friday    14th.     ..              ..     ..         ..              ..
Monday 17th. Southport, Chapel Street, 12.00 noon - 1.30 pm.

Prayer for good weather would be appreciated!

Update 15th July.

Last Friday in Liverpool was good, plenty of conversations; three New Testaments and two 'Daniel Project' DVD's given away. We were also able to encourage, and be encouraged by, some Christians.
Unfortunately it was too wet for Southport on the Monday.

We are a bit tied up with family commitments for the next couple of weeks but we hope to have a session or two in Liverpool but Southport looks unlikely. I will give updates as soon as I know what's happening.

Update.

It was good on Bold Street on Saturday with two young men asking for New Testaments and happy for us to follow them up. On the train going home, people sat near us got into conversation about our trolley and one of them asked for a Testament as well.
We are following up our earlier contacts and responding to their questions. This seems to be a helpful approach that results in really engaging with seekers.

We are visiting friends in London later this week so we will only manage one session: Monday 12 noon till 1.30pm. Lord street, near Town Gardens.(Southport)

Monday, 22 June 2015

Finally got to Southport today...it's surprising (or maybe not) how many things crop up to prevent us getting on the streets. We ended up not quite where I was planning to go on Lord Street and we did not get much of a response but it did feel like planting a flag for the future.
It was lovely to be joined by Esme and Rick, and we prayed together for further witness in Southport town centre.

Next sessions:

Saturday 27/06/15  11.00am-12.30pm Liverpool Bold Street.
Monday 29/06/15   12.15pm-01.30pm Southport Lord Street (near Town Gardens).

Please pray for follow-up of our first contacts.

Saturday 20/06/15

Rain stopped play today! Because the New Testaments and other literature are key to what we are doing we are bit dependent on good weather.
Forecast is ok for Monday so we intend being in Southport for an hour or so from mid-day.  We shall be on Lord Street near the Town Gardens.

One of our first contacts to receive a New Testament is in touch and asking good questions.

We now have a land-line: 0151 7927026

Friday, 12 June 2015

Bold Street on Thursday was unusually quiet but it is always good to get out and we were an encouragement to one Christian. We are very aware that the enemy really does not want believers to share the Gospel in any way and it is sometimes quite a battle to do it. It is easy to get full of doubts and question whether it is worthwhile, however, we know what the Lord has told us to do and obedience is the key: 'In due season we shall reap if we faint not.'
Pauline did have a very good conversation with a young man on the train and he was keen to do the '30 Day Challenge' so we have sent him a New Testament. We are finding it increasingly easy to get into conversation with people on our train journeys backwards and forwards to Ainsdale (great contrast to the Tube in London where no-one speaks) and often we are able to give literature.
Next week we are having a bit of a 'selah' but will hope to be in Bold Street on Saturday between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm.
We also intend going to Southport fairly regularly, this will probably be on Mondays but I will confirm this.

Monday, 8 June 2015

This week.

Just one session this week:
THURSDAY.
11.00am to 12.30pm. Bold Street, Liverpool. (Opposite Gregg's)

Sunday, 7 June 2015

Wednesday, 3 June 2015

Change of plan.

We had intended doing a session in Southport this afternoon, however, due to personal factors we are having to cancel that.
We will probably make it to Southport next Monday around mid-day but I will confirm that at the weekend.

Update 30/05/15

Bold Street on Saturday morning was an encouraging time. Our '30 Day Challenge' seems to attract attention and  a man in his late 30's walked past then walked back, and hesitated before picking up a New Testament. He said it was just what he needed. On talking further he said he knew very little about the Bible but was just getting into things. He was happy to give his e mail for follow up and he thought the 30 day reading scheme would be really helpful.
Similarly a mature lady was thrilled to be able to have a New Testament with some guidance in it. She wanted to pay for it but we are keen to keep money out of this! Again this lady was happy to give contact details so we can see how she has got on.
A younger man of Middle Eastern origin looked quite troubled and he said he had a lot going on in his head. He was drawn to a booklet we have on forgiveness, it was a brief conversation but we felt God was in it and that the booklet would help him. He seemed quite troubled but gave us a lovely smile as he left.

This week's programme:

Wednesday 3rd June afternoon, Lord Street, Southport. Exact location and time to be confirmed.
Friday 5th June, 11.00am to 12.30pm. Bold Street, Liverpool. Opposite Greggs.

Sunday, 24 May 2015

My first attempt at uploading a video does not seem to have worked, which is fortunate for those who view this blog; and it is encouraging to see how many people do.
We have obtained some New Testaments (ESV version) which are well presented with excellent notes and helps and at a price which means we can give them away. We are issuing a '30 Day Challenge' to anyone who wants a New Testament: there is a 30 day reading plan in the Testament which gives a good overview of major teachings and we are asking people to follow the plan and agree to us contacting them to see how they got on and if they have any questions. It was really encouraging on our first time with the 'Challenge' on Bold Street that two ladies came up individually and were very keen to have a New Testament and readily agreed to being followed up.

This week's programme:
Thursday 28th. 11.00am-12.30pm Bold St Liverpool.
Saturday 30th.     ..             ..          ..            ..

Update on last week.
Next week's  activity to follow soon.

Sunday, 17 May 2015

This week's update.

We succeeded in doing three sessions last week. Thursday in Bold Street was lively with ten significant conversations. Friday afternoon was the first time we have done anything in Birkenhead and was very much a 'testing the water' exercise. It was very busy in Bold Street on Saturday afternoon and we had moved to the sunny side of the street, this all made it harder for people to stop. Nevertheless Rob had a challenging talk with an ardent socialist and we were able pray with Christian man who is going through a difficult patch.
We are grateful for God's grace and the opportunity to make a stand for the Lord Jesus Christ.

This week: Friday 22nd 11.00 am to 1.00 pm. Bold Street, Liverpool.

Monday, 11 May 2015

Welcome to this blog! My wife, Pauline, and I have been following the Lord Jesus Christ for more than forty years now and it all started through reading the Bible out of curiosity. We have found there is nothing more important in life than finding out the truth about Jesus and what he has done for us by dying on the cross so that our sins may be forgiven. It is this knowledge that makes us want to share the good news with others, and this blog is part of what we are doing to achieve this.
We  will be spending time on the streets of Merseyside offering copies of John's Gospel and New Testaments to anyone who wants to find our more about the Lord Jesus, and, of course, we shall be happy to talk to anyone about the Christian message.
We want to use this blog as a means of letting people know where we will be on a weekly basis and also to share items of news.

This week's programme:
Thursday 14th. May 11.00am-12.30pm: Bold Street, Liverpool.(By the 'Reconciliation' statue)
Friday 15th. May 2.00pm-3.30pm: Grange Road, Birkenhead (Near Pri Mark)
Saturday 16th. May 1.00pm-3.00pm: Bold Street, Liverpool(as Thursday)
